Purification

A new development in the purification section is the introduction of deliming.

Further modernisation has taken place on the carbonation, the juice filters and the press filters.
Energy losses in vapours are reduced and sludge is processed in such a way that it can be pelletized.

Purification is now also completely automated.


Evaporation

Extensive research has lead to energy savings in this section as well:
  • plate type falling film equipment
  • corrosion resistant materials
  • up to 7 or 8 effects
  • condensates recovery

Crystallisation

Continuous strike technology for all or for some crystallisation strikes are the key to further energy savings.
Horizontal or vertical type crystallisers have both their advantages.

Equipment heat exchange concept ranges from tubular to plate or honeycomb bundle type.

The crystallisation scheme has to be adapted to the required quality of the sugar and of the molasses.
