Next to the quality of the sugar to be produced (brilliancy), here again energy savings are very important.
Different techniques can be selected: drum, plate or fluidized bed type equipment.
Maturation and storage
The definition of the storage requirements to be foreseen in a plant depends on several technical and economical factors: silo, bag warehouse, bulk load-out,
Sugar silos can be horizontal or vertical and equipped
with first in-first out or last in-first out reclaiming systems. Extraction can be mechanical or by gravity.
The necessary sugar maturation can take place outside or inside the silo.
Refining
Sugar refining is done through some of the processes described above.
The refining processes have to be adapted to the quality of the raw sugar, the quality of the refined sugar to be obtained and the chemical means available.
Local regulations and norms regarding effluents have to be studied and adhered to for each plant.
